How to Order - 3 Easy Steps

Choose Your PhotosSpacerPlace Your OrderSpacerSend Your Photo(s)

Step One: Choose Your Photo(s)

Quality of a photo can make the difference between a good painting and a great painting. See our tips for taking or choosing photographs. Most customers prefer to send us printed photographs that we can scan into the computer at the proper resolution to achieve the highest quality results. Your photo(s) should be at least 3”x5”. We can also scan a slide or negative for an extra $20.00 fee.

If you prefer to scan the picture yourself or have it scanned for you, please scan at a resolution of 150-200 dpi, at the desired print size for paintings, or the original print size for collage pictures. Collage pictures smaller than 4" in either dimension should be enlarged during scanning. Save the file(s) in jpeg (compressed) file format.

You may also wish to use an existing digital image or take a digital picture and submit it as a computer file. We can accept most formats, including JPG, GIF, PSD (Photoshop), and TIFF, as long as your image is either high resolution (150+ ppi) or has a print size larger than the size it will appear in the finished artwork. Your image filenames should use only alphanumeric characters (no spaces or symbols).

NOTE: for collages, you are welcome to send awards, certificates, invitations, letters, cards, or anything else that can be scanned, in addition to photos.

Step Two: Place Your Order

To pay by check or money order, place your order by using the printable order form. The order form will open up in a separate browser window in a printer-friendly format. Fill in all the blanks right on screen and print the form by going to the File menu in your browser and choosing "Print".

If you wish to pay by credit card or transfer from a bank account, use the shopping cart. Ordering online from Mainely Computing is completely secure. For your protection, we employ PayPal, a well-established payment company which uses one of the world's most advanced encryption, fraud prevention, and protection systems, and is trusted by more than 50 million people in 45 countries around the world. (You do not have to be or become a PayPal member.)

Our security pledge: 1) We do not receive, store, or maintain a record of customer credit card or bank account numbers. 2) We never sell or lease customer information to anyone. 3) You will only be contacted about your order, and will never be spammed by us.

Step Three: Send Your Photo(s)

By mail: Send your photos (any other materials for collages) to “Mainely Computing, PO Box 395, North Berwick ME 03906”. Include your order form; or your name, address, and PayPal transaction number if you ordered online.

We recommend that you use a stiff photo or document mailer (available at post offices and office supply stores) and place your photo inside a plastic bag for added protection. If you do not have a stiff mailer, place your protected photo between two pieces of stiff cardboard inside a manila envelope, and write “Photos - Do Not Bend” on the front and back of the envelope.

Your original photo will not be altered or harmed in any way. Hard copy photos sent to us are carefully scanned and returned to you safely. However, we cannot be responsible for pictures damaged or lost during shipment.

By email: Send an email to photos@mainelycomputing.com with your image(s) attached. Include your name and the date you mailed your order form and payment or, if you ordered online, include your name, address, and PayPal transaction number.

NOTE: files larger than a few megabytes can be difficult to send online, as can large numbers of files. If you have many files or a large single file and you have difficulty emailing, you may want to send your image(s) on a CD.

If any photo is unusable for any reason, you will be contacted before work is begun. You will have the option of canceling your order or providing another photo.
